Water!

Water is a crucial part to any civilization. It is a human necessity, a pull-factor, and a must-have for any growing civilization. Today, if you look at a map of major cities around the world, you will find one thing in common with most of them: they are near water. New York City, New York; Paris, France; Los Angeles, California; Sydney, Australia. They are all situated on a bay, river, ocean, sea, or some body of water because they need it. Ancient Rome, Greece, and Egypt all had close access to water. The Romans, though, came up with a more unique way to get their water. They developed a piping system to get water to them called an aqueduct. The aqueduct was very important to their culture and survival. Now we as humans have evolved, but not much more than our shrinking appendixes. My point is, the ancient peoples still needed water as much as we do. They could not have survived without it.
